August 15th I turned 25.
I had tons of people say “wow I thought you were older.” Guys? Is that a compliment or nah? lol Anyway, as I start to blog about my birthday some other things came to mind…so I’ve decided this post would be a little about my birthday and some side stories that are relevant to the topic of how incredible my husband is. Truthfully, I never expect anything from him when it comes to holidays or birthdays. The fact that he treats me like a queen every single day is more than enough. But he is the BIGGEST ROMANTIC EVER. Like, he can’t help himself. He always has something up his sleeve. He’s been like that from the beginning! One year I went to California to visit my family for a a week and when I got there he texted me “Dress nice. Ready to go. Saturday at 7am with your mom.” So without questioning him Saturday morning we walk outside and see a limo waiting to take us somewhere. BTW, him and I barely knew each other, we’ve only gone on like 5 dates. So you would think I would be a little more skeptical getting into a limo that was set up by basically a stranger. Like what if this was a plot to get us killed or turned into sex slavery!? But I didn’t think twice about jumping into that limo haha He had an entire day planned for my mom and I in Napa. Spa treatments, wine tasting, dinner, shopping….it was the most perfect blissful day. (Mind you, he’s never even met my mom!)….maybe it was just a way of locking himself into my family haha because my mom loved him after that and said “oh Liana he’s a keeper!” lol! There was another time when him and I were at the mall and I pointed out a jumpsuit that I thought was really cute. A few weeks later I come to his place and see red roses everywhere with a few presents. One of them being that jumpsuit I had shown him weeks ago! What kind of man remembers a piece of clothing and goes out to get it!!!?? OMG, which reminds me of another story….We were at Jo Malone getting a candle for someones birthday…Being that these are my absolute FAVORITE candles ever I asked “hey can I get one for our house?” He responds “not today babe.” I got soooooo angry!!! Did he really just say no to a candle!? (I get it, these candles aren’t cheap) but damn all I wanted was one!!!
“What do you mean I can’t get one?!”
“What kind of man are you that doesn’t want to light up a candle to set the mood in the bedroom?!”
“Aren’t you supposed to be a romantic? A candle is part of that romance!!”
I went on and on and on all the way home…..poor Michael had to drive the entire way back listening to me b*tch and complain about not getting a candle.
We come home, I cross my arms and march my way into the bathroom like a little kid. My jaw hits the floor. I see 2 huge Jo Malone bags standing there! Yup, he had already bought tons of candles for me and placed it there before we left so I would be surprised when I came home. You can imagine how shitty I felt. I turn to him with a little smirk….oh babe, you shouldn’t have =D What does that story tell you? That he’s always one step ahead. And me? well….I’m a maniac who needs to work on controlling myself.
Okay, lets get back to the events that led up to my birthday!
So….one day my mom and I were hanging out at the beach and Michael comes unexpectedly with a huge present! Tells me its an early birthday gift! Of course with how crazy I am, I’m like wait what? I can’t open this now, I’m all sweaty and gross. I can’t have photos taken of me opening this gift yet. Take it back! Him and my mom insist I open it, so I did. IT WAS A DRONE!! Ive always wanted one! This was a way to take my videos to the next level! Thank you thank you thank you I shouted! A couple days later he hands me another present. Tells me I would appreciate having it now. I open it, and its A BRAND NEW COMPUTER with TONS of storage space! He knows me wayyyyyy to well. With the amount of photos and videos I take I needed a laptop that has a drive big enough to store all those memories for me. Again, by him getting me that shows how attentive he is! He saw my frustration when that pop up window came up with the message “not enough storage space, please delete some files.” So he gets me a laptop where I wouldn’t have these issues anymore. So here I am, blogging on my brand new laptop hayyyyyyy =D
My actual birthday fell on a Tuesday so we celebrated the weekend before. He told me we are leaving Saturday morning and coming back Monday. Everything was supposed to be a surprise but I squeezed some clues out of him and basically figured out what we were doing lol My heart almost stopped when I found out we were staying at the FAENA!!! I’ll admit, I am a little boujee when it comes to hotels but even I wasn’t ready for a toilet that opens up for you as soon as you enter the bathroom…and closes when you’re finished. Which brings up a topic..Does anyone else get really grossed out when they flush the toilet and if the top cover isn’t closed you feel like all the bacteria goes up and sits on you?!…. Like, public restrooms for example, NEVER have toilet covers so I flush the toilet with my foot, one hand already on the door, and run out as quick as possible because I feel like when the water starts swirling around all the germs fly up! Okay, getting off topic here, the post wasn’t supposed to be about the shitter. Anyway, back to this hotel…If you are ever in Miami, I highly recommend staying there. The vibe is totally different…the developer of this place is an Argentinian man who designed the place with a beautiful Spanish feel. As soon as you walk into the hotel you don’t see your typical check in area. I wouldn’t even call it a lobby. Its just huge gold columns and red velvet seats right down the middle. With art on both sides of the wall. Glass doors up ahead that lead you outside to a gold platted mammoth in a glass box. Yup. Hows that for being different?
Some of the art on the wall
Saturday night Michael said he planned a dinner for us at ZUMA. (You can’t get in the way of Zuma and I!!) I really do wish I was more spontaneous when it comes to food and should have given the restaurants at the hotel a try, but I’m barely in Miami anymore. So when I go there I want to make sure I eat at all the places I KNOW are good. Like, thats the worst when you go to a place you haven’t ate at before and the food turns out HORRIBLE. Ain’t nobody got time to experiment with food when starving! Thats another thing about me, when I take a trip down to Miami I already have a list of places I know I want to eat. My mouth starts to water because I’m thinking about that tuna tartar at Zuma or the crispy brussel sprouts at Makoto. Sometimes, Im not joking, I’ll drive to 3 different places to eat all my favorite dishes lol and if you know how bad the traffic is in Miami than you’d know I’m crazy for doing this. But nothing can stop me from being a fatass! After dinner Saturday night we debated whether we wanted to go out or not and listen to how lame we are. We went back to the hotel and watched a really interesting/disturbing documentary series on Drew Peterson LOL Saturday night, in Miami… my birthday weekend, and we are lit from stuffing our faces with room service dessert. But when you’re a parent, watching t.v in peace RARELY HAPPENS so this was like awesome for us! Plus, we saved our energy for the next day…Which was MUCH needed! Brunch at Sea Spice on a Sunday is INSANE. I really wish I had more details for you guys, but that tequila man….it takes over your mind, body and soul haha. We had soooooo much fun. Since it was my birthday I wanted to go hardddddd, but damn I’m completely out of control and think I went a little too hard. lol I wish I went back to the hotel when my husband told me too! Because the feeling of walking out of E11even when the sun is coming up is sooooooo depressing lol Makes me nauseous just thinking about that morning when we stumbled back to our room, tired but drunk as f*ck, feet swollen, ripped clothes, lost phones, chugging water, trying to find Advil, knowing we need to drive back home in a couple hours to be responsible parents lol but nothing like having a crazy wild night that will go down in history with your husband and friends. Maybe next time I should attach a gopro on my head to record the madness that goes down when we go out lol but thank goodness we stayed in Saturday night! Guess you can say we are slowly adulting lol! Heres a few photos I managed to take…
